Jennifer’s project is registered at the School of Life Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg Campus under the supervision of Prof. Colleen Downs.
To better understand the current status of these birds in our province, UKZN would greatly appreciate reports of any sightings of Cattle Egrets and various heron species, especially, but not limited to, their roosting and feeding sites on farmlands and in urban areas of KwaZulu-Natal.
Please contact Jennifer Cele email: JCele01@gmail.com (cc Prof Downs downs@ukzn.ac.za) or telephone 033-2605127 (during office hours)
FREEME Wildlife has been assisting with this research by providing DNA collection, biometric recording, admission factors and release data on the Cattle Egret and Heron patients admitted to FREEME Wildlife.
