How to care for a Rhinkals

A Rhinkals… from the Merrivale area in KZN. This beautiful specimen, just over a meter in length, was saved from dogs but didn’t escape without injury…a bite to the tail, partly de-gloved. This we treated, with caution, these snakes not only feign death when threatened, but can also deliver a serious bite and are capable of spitting venom as well…we needed to take care…

So how does one get a venomous snake into a tube for “safer” handling…?

This is how we did it… Please note, only people trained, knowledgable and with the correct equipment should work with venomous snakes.

FreeMe Wildlife, we love what we do, and how we do it…
