I am not abandoned

Too often, when we are out walking with our dogs, running or riding, we bump into baby animals…often, we think they have been abandoned by mom but, this is not the case…

Mothers often hide their young in thickets where they are safe from predators and return to feed them periodically when the coast is clear…

At FreeMe Wildlife, we simulate a natural environment when hand raising young animals such as this Grey Duiker lamb, we also encourage natural behaviour, such as lying dead still in thickets until feeding time. This video demonstrates how well this is done at FreeMe Wildlife.

Babies never run to their carers seeking unnatural companionship, they are never “petted” or tamed, they are never imprinted. This is what professional wildlife rehabilitation is about, ensuring the best for the survival of species back in the wild as a wild animal.

FreeMe Wildlife takes pride in leading through example. We love what we do, and how we do it…
