A Knot of Baby Pythons

Working with ToPS Species (Threatened or Protected Species).

And so the time came to release these baby Southern African Pythons measuring around 65 cm each, they are approximately three weeks old and their mother was killed. We chose the beautiful Fountain Hill Estate, a Biodiversity Stewardship site, for their release…

Did you know that Southern African Python hatchlings are one of the few in the snake world that stay around their mothers for the first few weeks for protection?

These little ones were rescued after the mother was killed in a rural area between Greytown and Wartburg…fortunately, some of the clutch escaped and these 13 were removed to ensure that they did not suffer the same fate (thank you Pieter Potgieter for your prompt response to this rescue).

This is how it went…

We love what we do, and how we do it…
